Virtual Dissection

One of the best ways to learn about the structures of any organ system in the human body is to dissect an organism with similar physiology, such as a pig.

1. Read "The Dissection of a Fetal Pig" on page 762 of your textbook. For this lab, read the procedure for "Part 1 External Anatomy" on pages 762 to 763 and "Part 2 The Digestive System" on pages 763 to 765. 
2. Go to the online Virtual Pig Dissection by Whitman College. Follow the procedures for observing the head and the abdominal cavity. Make your own sketch of the abdominal cavity and organs. Be sure to select Next until you have moved through all of the structures.
3. Save your diagram for activities later in the module.
