Plants are essential to our lives. Without them, we simply could not exist. The trick is how can we derive maximum benefit from them.

What is the best and most cost-effective way to grow plants?

How can we efficiently propagate new plants from a parent plant?
- How can we develop new types of plants that better meet our needs?
After completing this course, you will have the answers to these questions and more.
Before you begin, take a brief look at an overview of the course.
There is much more to growing and propagating plants than initially meets the eye.In this course, you will gain knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to effectively do exactly that.
This means you will do the following:
- learn how to select plants appropriate for certain climatic conditions.
- identify specific requirements for the production of plant commodities.
- learn about technological systems used in a plant production enterprise.
- identify potential hazards found in the plant production area and safe practices for dealing with these hazards.
- look into how you might find a rewarding career that involves the production of plant commodities.
In order to gain that knowledge, and to acquire those skills and attitudes, you will complete the following three units of study within this course:

Unit 1: Producing a Plant

Unit 2: Plant Production Practices

Unit 3: Career Exploration
This course will earn you one credit toward your high school diploma. It consists of three units and it is competency based, meaning that each unit must be completed successfully
How You Will Be Assessed
- You must complete each quiz and the assignment successfully, achieving a minimum of 50%.
- Any incomplete or non-submitted quiz or assignment, or any assignment with a mark of less than 50%, will need to be resubmitted in order to achieve 50% or higher.
- Quizzes 1 - 4 are worth 15% for a total of 60% of the total course mark. You will have 2 attempts on each quiz, to achieve 50% or higher.
- The assignment is worth 40% of the total course mark.
There is no mid-term or final exam for this course.
