General Introduction

This course is designed to teach you how to analyze the organizational structure of the tourism industry at the local, provincial, national, and global levels. You will perform introductory investigations of employment and training opportunities in tourism. The instruction is broken into 3 Units followed by a final project.
Contact your Tourism teacher immediately. This will help you get to know each other and ensure you are starting the course on the right track.

This course does not have any prerequisites.

Upon successfully completing this course you will receive one introductory level senior high credit in TOU1010 The Tourism Sector.

Moodle works best using the Internet browser Chrome. If you are using a different browser, please switch browsers prior to proceeding.
There are no special materials or equipment necessary to complete this course. However, it is important to understand that this course is only delivered online so you will need access to a computer with the Internet.

As with all Alberta Education CTS courses, TOU1010 - The Tourism Sector should take about 16-25 hours to complete. This includes all readings and the final project.
If students have not submitted any assignments to ADLC within 60-days from the registration date or from the last marked assignment, they will automatically be withdrawn from the course.

There are 3 Self-Assessment Journal Entries, one after each Unit, worth 10 marks each. Provided you submit a complete personal journal entry, you will receive the full 10 marks for each journal entry.
At the end of the 3rd unit, there is a 3-part Final Project. Since this is a project-based course with numerous components, it is worth 90% of your course mark.

The ADLC Career and Technology Studies department has a policy that states students must receive a passing grade of 50% or better in ALL assignments in order to be awarded a final grade and receive credit. If assignments where students receive a mark below 50% on any assignments, they will be asked to resubmit that assignment.
