Lesson 4: Travel Generators
"You are off to great places, today is your day, your mountain is waiting, so get on your way."
~ Dr. Seuss
Definition
Travel or tourism attraction generators encourage tourists to visit the area and ultimately spend money. If a country has tourism generating power, it would have popular attractions or incentives that attract tourists to visit frequently. These attractions might be either a unique environment or landmark, shopping area, or a place of interest where tourists visit. Tourists typically choose a destination for its natural or man-made beauty, its cultural value, historical significance, offered activities, adventure, or leisure.

Alberta
Let's look provincially, within Alberta. This is a way I like to think of it . . . if someone were visiting me in Alberta, what are some attractions I would recommend? What are some Alberta travel attractions that bring in tourists -- thereby, generating more tourism? Here are some that I think of right away:
- West Edmonton Mall
- Calgary Stampede
- Drumheller Dinosaur Park
- Rocky Mountains
- Banff
- Jasper
- Edmonton Summer Festivals
- What would you add to the list?
