Destination Management Organization

The term Destination Management Organization (DMO) is interchangeable with the term Destination Management Partnership (DMP) which reflects the importance of maintaining a partnership with various stakeholders.
The primary function of the Destination Management Organization focusses on external affairs such as environmental protection, supply management, and community welfare.
Tasks revolve around the following 10 duties:
- Marketing, promotion, and publicity
- Administration of the Destination Management System
- Providing business support and advice
- Developing new tourism products and packages
- Fostering a partnership approach to destination management
- Managing stakeholders
- Developing revenue income and streams
- Managing specific tourism projects
- Coordinating and/or managing the Tourism Information Network
- Lobbying on behalf of the tourism industry
