How to Get There

There are a few ways to arrive on Prince Edward Island.

  1. By Driving -- From New Brunswick, cross the dramatic 13-km long Confederation Bridge, a drive that takes about 10 minutes bringing you to the southwestern region of the province. There is no toll charge going to PEI however, there is a toll when you leave!

    1. By Ferry -- Alternately, you can make the journey from Nova Scotia on a Northumberland Ferry which operates May through mid-December. This trip takes about 75 minutes at sea and docks in PEI's southeastern region. Ferries depart every hour-and-a-half with up to nine daily sailings during peak season.
    2. By Air -- Lastly, arrive by air at the Charlottetown Airport. Canadian airlines: Air Canada and Westjet both offer flights to PEI's capital city from neighbouring cities. There are two Maritime based airline charters, Atlantic Charters, and Maritime Air Charters, that include flights from some US cities.
    3. By Bus -- Maritime Bus offers daily service between PEI and Central and Western Canada.
    4. By Sea -- A number of major cruise lines stop in the port of Charlottetown, PEI each year.
