On this page, you will think about your own media habits and what it means to be part of Generation Z.

Thinking About Media Habits

Have you ever heard people describe you as a "digital native", someone who was "born digital", or a member of Generation Z? Has anyone ever labelled you as part of Generation M (for multi-tasking), the Connected Generation, the Net Generation, or the iGeneration?

"This generation is the first to have gone through their entire teen years with Facebook and other social networking sites at their fingertips."
~ Social Media, Social Life, Common Sense Media, 2012

"It's the most diverse generation the world has ever seen as comfortable within the global context and the challenges of working across boundaries. They are ?digital natives? who have grown up deeply immersed in the web of technology and inter-connectivity."
~ Tapping into Generation Z, The Charolotte Observer , 2012

When Were You Born?

If you were born between 1993 to 2011, you belong to Generation Z.
According to the 2011 Canadian census results, this is a generation that makes up 21.9% of the population. It is a generation that can't remember a world without computers. Is this your experience?

Definition of Digital media:
