Assessment
Ensure your success in this course:

  • Complete all learning objectives.
  • Save a copy of all your activities as evidence of your learning.
  • Open a portfolio of your best work (you can use this portfolio to illustrate your skills to potential employers).
  • Identify, demonstrate, and evaluate basic competencies and workstation routines (if applicable).
  • Complete a personal inventory and make career and occupation connections.

Quizzes (25%): There are five, online unit quizzes. Each is worth 5% of your final grade. There is no cumulative final exam.

Assignments (75%): There are five unit assignments. Each is worth 15% of your final grade.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive one Alberta high school credit. Depending on your skills, experience, and learning aptitude, this course should take approximately 18 to 32 hours to complete.

You must achieve a grade of 50% or better on all assignments and quizzes to be awarded a final grade and receive credit for this course. All material including assignment instructions and quizzes are available on this website.

Assignments
Before submitting any assignment, check that you have

  • obtained permission to use any copyrighted material
  • met all assignment criteria
  • ensured all information is accurate
  • proofread your work
  • used correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation

Submit assignments to your Moodle course in a timely fashion, one assignment at a time. You teacher can provide helpful comments that apply to subsequent coursework, assignments and quizzes.
Hard-copy components of your assignments (such as newspaper articles, hand-drawings, etc.) must be scanned and submitted electronically.

Document filenames must include the following information:

  • Student name
  • Course name
  • Assignment title
Document filename example: SMITH_John_COM1005_Assignment_1.doc

All assignments must be submitted electronically in Moodle.   Keep copies of all your assignments for your records.
