Essential Questions in Short Stories

Whenever you read, listen to, or view a literary text, always consider the connections that might be made to larger messages or themes about life. Consider how a particular text might support an essential question we might ask about human kind or about the condition of daily life. When reading the short stories in this unit, please be sure to give thought to how each of the texts connects to one or more of our course essential questions. Later in the course you will be given some specific ideas about how an essential question can be included in literary exploration written responses. For now here are the Essential questions to view and ponder or think about as you read the various texts that will be studied in this course.
