Essential Questions in Poetry

Whenever you read, listen to, or view a literary text, always consider the connections that might be made to larger messages or themes about life. Consider how a particular text might support an essential question that we might ask about human kind or about the condition of daily life.  When reading the poems in this section, please be sure to give thought to how each of the texts connects to one or more of our course essential questions.  Later in the course you will be given some specific ideas about how an essential question can be included in literary exploration written responses. For this poetry section of the course, here are the essential questions to view and ponder as you explore the various poems.
