Congratulations! The End is Very Near!!

This exam is designed to be completed in 2 hours, but pending approval of your supervisor and prior arrangement, you may be able to have up to 4 hours. Your Exam Two Final is based on the content you learned in Units 2 and 3 only. Unit 1 material is not included, with the exception that you should review your materials about theme, as you need to understand theme to complete the Literary Exploration Essay. This exam is worth 15% of your final mark.

You must bring your Sightlines 10 textbook, and you are encouraged to bring a dictionary, thesaurus, and writer's handbook to the exam. Reading and Writing for Success is not on the approved list.

This is a study guide only, and your exam questions may be applicable to any course content within Units 2 & 3 of your course.

Review Unit 2 Short Notes: visual techniques, film techniques, and graphic design technique, and review all information about theme
You need to know terminology definitions, and have the ability to apply them to new material that will be provided in the exam.

Your final exam consists of four parts:  (/75 marks)
  • Part A:   Course Terminology & Comprehension (20 questions)
  • Part B:   Matching (10 matching) - Film Technique Terminology
  • Part C:   Short Answer - Visual Analysis - Review the information page "Visuals --The Big Picture" (you will be given a visual to which you will apply this type of information)
  • Part D:   Literary Exploration Essay (35 marks) - same format as your 6.3 Literary Exploration
    • Thought and Support /15
    • Form and Structure /10
    • Matters of Choice /5
    • Matters of Correctness /5

For Part D, you will be given a discussion question, for which you will be asked to compose a written literary exploration response. You must use either your studied film or novel as supporting contextual evidence, and you must develop a personal connection to the discussion question. To do well on this writing, you will need to be very familiar with your film or novel. Review your 6.3 Literary Planning and Response work, and teacher feedback very well.
