Lesson 1 — Activity 2: Forms of Communication

Communication can take many forms.

It can be verbal.
  • This means that we use words to communicate.
  • We communicate verbally when we share messages through speaking, whispering, crying, shouting, singing, writing, and reading.

It can be non-verbal.
  • This means that we communicate without words.
  • We may nod or shake our heads, move our hands, raise our eyebrows, roll our eyes, and do many other things to communicate non-verbally.

Watch this video to see examples of how we communicate both verbally and non-verbally and why communicating in only the digital world can sometimes be very limiting!
