Lesson 16 — Activity 1: Analyze Print Advertising for Product
The activities in this lesson will take all the ideas you have considered so far in Theme 3 and put them together. You will look at how to evaluate the advertising methods used to promote three products in three different mediums. Then you will create an advertisement of your own!
As you know from your study of advertising so far, a lot of thought and money goes into every ad we see. Advertisers take many details into consideration as they develop an ad.


Important considerations:
- The name of the product. Advertisers want products to be easily recognized and remembered. They also want people to think about the product very positively.
- The place the product is advertised. Companies want their products to be advertised to the people most likely to buy them.
- The appearance of the ad. An ad has to be noticed by the consumer to be effective!
- The language of the ad. The advertiser wants us to think the product is something we have to buy to improve our lives in some way.
