You have chosen to complete Theme 6, which is a novel study with a choice of novels to read, instead of Theme 5, which is a study of the novel The Lie that Had to Be.

In this theme, you will reflect upon the elements that make up fictional stories, think about how to read and respond to a novel, preview the novel you have chosen, and complete an activity to prepare you for the story.

As the lessons continue, you will explore many of the ideas put forth in the story you have chosen, review the elements once again, and look at each of the elements as they apply to your novel.

To end this theme, you will learn about conducting research and complete a research report related to the novel.

This theme includes six lessons:
  • Lesson 31 — Getting Ready to Read the Novel
  • Lesson 32 — Studying the Novel
  • Lesson 33 — The Specifics of Your Novel
  • Lesson 34 — Drawing the Reader into the Novel
  • Lesson 35 — Conducting Research
  • Lesson 36 — Writing the Research Report
