Meet Your Virtual Classmates

Below are the profiles of the students that you will receive guidance and observe assignment examples from as you work through the course.

Hi. My name is Rose. I live in Edmonton, Alberta. I like manga, computer games, and texting my friends. Originally my family is from China but my parents came to Canada long ago. I am shy and like to keep to myself.

Hey! Kevin here! I’m back for another English course! I’m still an avid volleyball player and music fan, and yes, I’m still working to save up for my car. I used to think I wanted to be an electrical engineer, but now I think I’d rather be an electrician.

Hi there. My name is Tehya. I live in a small community with my two brothers and one sister. I like being outside, singing, and drawing.

Hi, I’m Mohammed. I’m 16 years old, and I’m the oldest in my family. I still like soccer and hanging out with my friends while we play sports, watch movies, and play video games. I travelled over the summer, and now I think I want to have a career that will let me travel to different countries.

I’m Amy! I did okay in English 10-1 last year, so I decided to take English 20-1 by distance learning, too. I made some cool friends last year, and I’m looking forward to making new ones this year. I still dance competitively, and I like to watch movies

Kade here… English isn’t quite as tough as I thought. I think I got the hang of it by the end of English 10-1. I reign from the buzzing metropolis of Calgary, where I work and hang out.

Hello! I’m Danica. My family and I are living in Japan. We move around a lot for my dad’s work. I really like travelling, and I’m glad I’ve lived here long enough to make some good friends. I am building a portfolio of photography and artwork, because I’m thinking of going into Fine Arts.

Welcome  to the English 20-1 course! If you have not done so already, please contact your teacher to say hello and introduce yourself.

Are you interested in meeting some of your real-time classmates? Using the same idea of the student profiles you have just read, go to the Introduce Yourself forum to post!  Introducing yourself is a great opportunity to meet others working on the same course. You might even make a new friend or two!

If you are unsure about how to use the discussion board postings, go to the Navigation bar at the top of this page, choose the 'Resources' tab, then select 'Help' from the drop down menu.  On the page, you will also find videos on a variety of Help topics such as getting started, navigating through the course, and submitting assignments.
