Purposes of Communication

You may have wondered why there is so much focus on the teaching of language, from early literacy programs right up to university and college. The fact is that language is our means of communicating with each other.
Without a strong grasp of language, we cannot understand what others are trying to say to us. If we are unable to express ourselves clearly, others will not understand what we are trying to say. Without clear communication, both the spread of knowledge and the ability to form relationships may be difficult or even impossible.

Communication is necessary for practical purposes, yet is also an art that can evoke a full range of emotions. This course will help you to understand and to create many forms of text. With this understanding, you will be able to appreciate the world more richly and share your impressions and creations with others.
