1.2 Channels of Distribution
Completion requirements
A channel of distribution (sometimes called a marketing channel) is a group of people or organizations that direct products from producers to consumers.
Some marketing channels have only a few members. The product goes directly from the producer to the consumer.
Some marketing channels have many members, or intermediaries, that link the producers to the consumers. These intermediaries act as middlemen in the process of distribution. Sometimes the intermediaries are contracted by the producer to distribute the product, and sometimes intermediaries purchase the product themselves and resell it.
