Direct channel: A producer sells a product directly to the consumer. This channel is fairly common with small companies that sell their goods locally (e.g., at fairs or farmers' markets), or with entrepreneurs starting e-tail businesses (e.g., http://www.pook.ca/ ).

Producer â†’ Consumer

This is the simplest channel. It is not necessarily the most efficient. Producers are responsible for all the parts of the process. A woodworker might sell homemade toy trains at the local craft fair. The producer contacts the consumer directly. Note: Without intermediaries, the product customer and end consumer are the same.

The Screamin Brothers started selling their frozen treats locally at farmers' markets and local events. Initially, their ages made it difficult to expand into retail stores, though now their product sells in over 800 stores coast to coast to coast.
