Wholesalers may provide various services to retailers:
  • Help select the appropriate amount of inventory and products.
  • Sell multiple products at the same time. (This makes purchasing several different products simultaneously easier for retailers. If retailers had to purchase all their products directly from producers, the variety of products they could purchase at one time would be limited.)
  • Purchase goods in large quantities so they can spread their distribution costs over many buyers.
  • Respond quickly to customers' needs because they often have products stored in their own warehouses.
  • Move products quickly and cheaply to retailers.
