Lesson 2- Substantive Law vs. Procedural Law


Substantive Law is the body of law concerned with rights and obligations. Procedural Law is the body of law concerned with how to enforce and defend such rights and obligations. For example, murder is a criminal offense (substantive law) while the rules to be followed in prosecuting an offender for murder are referred to as procedural law.
