4.5.1 Electronic Business
Completion requirements
Electronic businesses need to invest, often at great expense, in new tools and very specific worker skills. Because employees are unlikely to stay with a particular employer for their entire careers, businesses succeed by developing at-the-moment partnerships.
It's important that employers recognize this, and offer employees greater life/work balance. Electronic businesses can facilitate this.
*To have employees work onsite is expensive. With fast and secure WiFi, many employers now encourage their employees to work offsite by not assigning fixed workspaces to individual employees. Desks are available on a first-come, first-served basis only.
Flexible working arrangements for employees represent win-win situations. Among these are
- flexible hours and flexible work sites*,
- early retirement followed by consulting options,
- more contract work,
- job sharing, and
- multiple careers, moonlighting, and outsourcing.
