Chemical Hazards

When learning about Chemical Hazards, it's important to know that:

  • some of the chemicals we use everyday are man-made
  • many more chemicals, that we use everyday, occur naturally
  • there are more natural chemicals in our environment, than man-made chemicals
  • both types of chemicals can be hazardous, if the proper controls are not in place
  • labels on chemical containers should always be checked carefully 
  • chemicals should be stored in designated containers and stored appropriately 


  • Cleaning Products

  • Oil based paint

  • Dust/Dirt - working in areas with lots of dust

  • Asbestos

  • Mists/vapors, gases, fumes
