The doctor first asks you how you feel. Then, the doctor uses specific technologies to observe your body and its functions.

The seven technologies described on pages 190 and 191 are the following:
- Blood Pressure Cuff:Â used to check blood pressure
- Stethoscope:Â used to listen to the heart and check heart rate
- CAT scan:Â used to X-ray the brain to check for bleeding or swelling
- X-ray:Â used to show damage to bones
- EKG:Â diagnoses disorders of the heart
- EEG:Â used to study brain activity
- endoscope:Â used to see the inside of hollow organs
