Answers to Questions:
Question 1. What kind of foods are not included included in a strict vegetarian diet?
A strict vegetarian diet does not include any animal products.
Question 2. Which foods are allowed in an ordinary vegetarian diet?
An ordinary vegetarian diet allows dairy products and eggs.
Question 3. In which nutrients is a vegetarian diet low? How do people on vegetarian diets overcome these deficiencies?
The nutrients low in a strict vegetarian diet are protein, fat, and certain vitamins and minerals. An ordinary vegetarian diet has more protein, fat, and vitamins and minerals from the dairy products and eggs. Vegetarians must eat plant products that provide more protein and also take vitamin and mineral supplements.
Question 4. What is a fad diet? Give the names of four fad diets mentioned in the reading.
A fad diet refers to a diet idea that is "fashionable". Fad diets are often related to weight loss. The four fad diets mentioned in the reading are the cabbage soup diet, the grapefruit diet, the Atkins diet, and the low carbohydrate diet.
Question 5. What is the objective of a fad diet?
Fad diets are often related to weight loss. Some are related to muscle gain.
Question 6. What is the main problem with any fad diet?
The main problem is that the fad diet is often short-term and it is often not a healthy diet. In fad diets, certain nutrients are missing, some are plain boring, and some are more dangerous to health than being a little overweight.
