Lesson 3.1 - Producing More Products
Lesson 3.1 - Producing More Products
In addition to needing more food and energy, people also needed refrigeration to keep food from spoiling. Again, a substance was found that seemed to work well. However, as technology advanced, chlorofluorocarbons used for refrigeration were discovered to have damaging effects on the ozone layer.Â
Ozone depletion results in more skin cancers for humans and more cataract problems that affect a person's vision. Major food crops may not grow as well. Also, phytoplankton in the ocean can be killed and this would affect adversely all food chains and webs in the ocean.Â
