Lesson 5.1 - What Can We Do?
Lesson 5.1 - What Can We Do?
Many negative things have resulted from our efforts to provide more food and energy for more people, but we can reduce some of these negative things. In fact, we can restore some things to the way nature intended them to be.Â
We may see certain advantages to doing certain things and we may not realize the disadvantages until later. Draining a wetland may seem like a good way to reduce the mosquito population and to gain more land for farming. However, if the birds then cannot nest and die out as a result, we may decide that reducing the amount of wetland was not such a good idea after all.Â
Read What Can We Do on pages 304 and 305 in the textbook. Here you will see the benefits to having a certain amount of wetland. Then, answer the following questions.
