Nationalism is also evoked by other kinds of events, by seeing symbols, and by learning about people, places, and actions.

Did you notice that the maple leaf and the Canadian flag were near the top of the list? Certainly the Canadian flag has become an identifying symbol for Canadians. This is because the flag is flown every time Canadians participate in international events, such as sporting competitions, conferences, and peacekeeping missions.
