Lesson 21 — Activity 4:
Organizations that Help
Organizations that Help
Warm Up
Now you know about the different ways that individuals can help those in need around the world. In this activity, you will learn about some of the organizations through which Canadians deliver
foreign aid.
Much of Canada's foreign aid goes directly from Canada's government to the governments of the receiving nations. The other way that aid reaches the people who need it is through organizations that work with the poorer nations. Some of the money the Canadian government spends on foreign aid is managed by some of these organizations. Individuals and Canadian corporations make contributions to many organizations that coordinate the aid programs.
The list below is a very small group of the organizations dedicated to helping improve life for the world's poor people. It should give you an idea of the diversity of the groups that participate in aid programs. The websites are listed so you can find out more about these groups. Take some time to learn about some of these important organizations.
Be sure to open at least three websites to get a clearer understanding of the help they offer to people around the world!
