Canada's Role in the World
For more than 50 years, Canada has been a strong presence as a humanitarian country on the world stage. Canadians know that in todayβs world, problems affecting people overseas can quickly become problems we experience here. With a stable economy and a culture that cares, Canada is well placed to intervene and help tackle larger issues such as peace, environmental issues, and humanitarian efforts around the world. In this theme, you will learn about Canada's place in the world.
In this theme, you will learn about:
- the unstable peace that has existed in the world since the end of World War II in 1945
- the role that peacekeeping has played in maintaining this peace
- the role Canada has played in many of the conflicts that have occurred since World War II
- the concept of terrorism, its causes, and its history
- some ways that can be used to overcome the threat of terrorism
- some possible future visions of Canada
