Course Description

Welcome to Forest Research and Development

If you have ever taken a leisurely walk through a forest, you will have experienced one of life's true pleasures. The peace of mind that arises from such activity cannot be measured in terms of money, and the peace of mind contributes to your health as much as the physical activity of the walk itself.

Of course, Canada's forests not only serve to give us many pleasant pastimes, such as hiking and camping, but they are also a significant part of our nation's wealth.

In addition to providing us with a healthy environment, forest production and consumption comprises a significant part of our nation's economy.

The specific purpose of this course is to have you examine current and emerging research and development in the forest industry. The end purpose is to thereby enhance our management and use of forests for economic, environmental, and social purposes.
