Textile Arts 1 is worth one credit and should take approximately 25 hours to complete. Contact your teacher if you are not sure what to make as a project.

In Textile Arts 1, you must complete the assignments as outlined in the course.

Your projects can be submitted in a variety of ways: digital, video, PowerPoint, scrapbook, or typed.

Course Outcomes



The student will:

  • Investigate various yarn or textile art techniques.
  • Demonstrate and apply basic skills and knowledge of yarn or textile techniques.
  • Apply basic skills at an appropriate level in assembling a project using one or more textile art techniques.
  • Demonstrate safe and proficient use of the following:
    • sewing equipment,
    • pressing equipment,
    • cutting tools.
  • Identify copyright restrictions and permissions and put them into practice.
  • Demonstrate basic competencies.
  • Make personal connections to the cluster content and processes to inform possible pathway choices.
