The Chain Stitch
A crochet chain stitch occurs when the yarn is pulled with the crochet hook through a loop on the hook to form a continuous strand of interlocking single loops.

- To make a loop, loosely wrap yarn around finger, twist once and release, put hook through loop, catch the yarn and draw it through. Pull the yarns to close around the hook.

- Pass the hook under the loop and catch the yarn. Draw the yarn through the loops on the hook. This makes one chain.
- Repeat this step until the number of chains required is met. Note: One loop always remains on the hook.
