Knitting Techniques



Increasing and Decreasing Knit Stitches


Increasing stitches simply means that you need to add an extra stitch or stitches to your knitting. Decreasing stitches means you need to reduce an extra stitch or stitches to your knitting.

  1. Knit first into the front of the stitch to make one stitch, but do not slip the old stitch off the right needle.



  2. Knit into the back of the same stitch to make another stitch.



  3. Slip the old stitch off the right needle. Now the two stitches are on the left needle.
