Cutting Tools

• Cutting mat - a self-healing mat which is placed under fabric being cut by the rotary cutter to protect the working surface.


• Rotary cutter - a time-saving cutter which glides easily over multiple layers of fabric, cutting as it moves.


• Seam ripper - a tool with a sharp edge used to pick out stitches.


• Fabric shears - a scissor designed for cutting fabric; the angle of the lower blade allows fabric to lay flat on surface while being cut.


• Paper scissors - a lower quality scissor used for cutting paper.


• Pinking shears - a scissor which cuts a zigzag edge to finish raw seam edges.
