Energy
Fossil fuels are nonrenewable. Once used, they are gone. They can't be reused, and they will not form again for a very long time. Animals and plants that die today will take hundreds of millions of years to become fossil fuels. As global population and demand increases, more and more people compete for less and less coal, crude oil, and natural gas. In this lesson, you will investigate alternative and renewable sources of energy.

In this lesson, you will:
- learn about sources of alternative energy
- learn how alternative sources of energy are used
- learn about conserving energy at home
Key terms for this lesson:
- bioenergy
- geothermal energy
- hydro energy
- nuclear energy
- renewable resources
- solar energy
- wind energy
