In this first lesson, you will learn about the legislative branch of Canada's government and understand:

  • Canada’s type of government is a constitutional monarchy that consists of several parts, each with its own responsibilities
  • those elected to the House of Commons are responsible for directing Canada in a responsible manner, making laws and policies, and seeing that these laws and and policies are carried out
  • the Senate is an appointed body that serves to ensure that laws and policies are fair to all Canadians
