Popular (pop) culture is a shared set of practices and beliefs that has national or global acceptance. Examples of pop culture are found in movies, music, novels, television shows, and magazines. For example, reality shows are an example of pop culture.

In this activity, you will look at more examples of popular culture.




Certain things might be part of pop culture in one part of the world but not in other places. Think about things, events, and people that are popular in Canada as you try the Self-check Activity below.






Some things may be more popular with one group of people than another. For example, many teenagers might listen to rap music but may not like the country music that is popular with their parents. Different parts of pop culture will appeal to different people in the community depending on their interests.
