Lesson 10Activity 2: Pop Culture in the Media

Warm Up

We see examples of pop culture in many places. We learn about pop culture when we listen to the radio and watch television. Advertising such as billboards also show us what is popular. Another place we see lots of pop culture is in magazines.

In this activity, you will look at how pop culture is promoted in the media, specifically in magazines.

Most magazines are aimed at certain groups of people. Some magazines focus on a certain area of interest, while others appeal to a certain age group or gender (male or female). Each magazine presents the pop culture that is most appealing to its target audience.
