As you learned, Canada exports many goods to many other countries.

In this activity, you will learn more about Canada's exports.





Here's an example:


Kenji runs a restaurant in Tokyo, Japan. He uses wooden chopsticks in his restaurant and goes through many pairs every day. Kenji would like chopsticks made out of poplar wood, and since no one in Japan makes this product, Kenji gets his chopsticks from Canada.

Why does Canada export goods?
 Let's compare this to individuals again. Remember that people work to meet their needs (work = money to buy goods). It is very similar with exports. When Canada sells goods to other countries, these countries pay for the goods. This brings money into our country, which in turn provides jobs for the people in Canada.
