Lesson 23 — Activity 1: What Is a Digital Story?
You know you are surrounded by stories every day. They are presented in advertisements, on TV, in movies, in blogs, in podcasts, to name just a few. Most of them are presented in a different way than the image you might have of a group of people sitting around a campfire and listening to an oral story!
Digital storytelling takes the aspects of traditional stories and combines them with other elements of presentation or representation.
A story is created that might include video, photos, drawings, and/or music as well as written or spoken words. Just like oral and written stories, digital stories can be humorous, serious, or inspirational. They can be personal, fictional, historical, or any other type of story.
Digital stories do not have to have elaborate videos or graphics software. Many digital stories are composed of drawings or photographs to go along with the recorded voices.
In this lesson, you will begin to think about how to create a digital story of your own.
