In order to receive credit for Physical Education 10, students must have a current Level A CPR certification.

If you are currently certified, please submit a copy of your certification to your teacher. You may have certification through course like Standard First Aid and Bronze Cross/Medallion.  We do not accept CPR completed through Babysitting courses.

If you are not certified, you have multiple options:

  1. Complete a course offered through ADLC. ADLC offers free courses one time per semester, usually in Edmonton, Calgary and Barrhead.  The course is during a school day and would require that you miss some class time if you attend a local school. Typically the course is offered late October/early November for first semester and for second semester late April/early May.
  2. Complete a course offered through a local provider, such as St John Ambulance. Use a search engine with search terms of "CPR" and your location to see what local providers offer courses near you.  These courses often have a cost of between $75 and $125.  The minimum level of course you need is CPR level 'A', however these courses are difficult to find.  The more popular (and offered more often) is CPR level 'C'.  Avoid taking a CPR level 'C' course that is listed for 'Health Care Providers'.
  3. Some local High Schools offer First Aid courses to students through the school.  First Aid courses do contain CPR.  Check with your local school counselor or Principal to find out if your local school does offer a First Aid course during the school year.

We do not accept online CPR courses as these courses do not have you practice the physical skill of CPR.  Contact your ADLC teacher if you have questions in regards to the CPR component.
