Number Basics


When you buy a car, follow a recipe, or decorate your home, you're using math principles. People have been using these same principles for thousands of years. Math is everywhere. It is one school subject you will be able to make use of in every part of your daily life. Look carefully and you'll find that there is math behind almost everything you do!

In this first lesson, you will learn that our number system is based on a concept that uses just 10 digits. When these digits are combined with the concept of place value, it creates a system that has no limits, which allows us to use numbers to do such things as order, compare, and estimate. You will also complete activities with numbers that can be used in many situations to meet your everyday needs!
