Example:


The cost of material and labour to tile a floor is $595. The cost of the materials is $255, and the regular wage is $17/hour. How many hours will the company have to pay for labour?

Here is how to find the answer:

Materials and Labour = $595
Materials = $255
Regular Wage = $17 per hour

Hours = Labour Cost รท Regular Wage

Labour Costs = (materials and labour) โ€“ materials
                               = $595 โ€“ $255
                               = $340

Hours = $340 รท $17 per hour
               = 20 hours

The company will have to pay for 20 hours of labour.
