Fire Extinguishers

In this lesson, you will learn about the various types of fire extinguishers, how to use a fire extinguisher and you will practice using a fire extinguisher! 
You will remember in Lesson 3, that you learned of the different fire classes.  Using the correct type of fire extinguisher on a fire is very important. Using the wrong type of fire extinguisher can make a fire worse.  The labels on fire extinguishers tell you what class of fire they are designed to fight.


The picture, on the right, shows you some common types of fire extinguishers, what they contain and the class of fires they extinguish.

You can see that the label attached to each fire extinguisher has important information about the class of fire (A, B, C, D) on which the extinguisher can be used.
