Section 1 Summary
In this section, you have begun to see that government and the economic decisions that government makes affect you in many ways. These decisions might affect your decisions from the type of clothes you wear to the food you eat. These decisions influence both your individual and collective identities. Ultimately, government and economic decisions influence the quality of life that you share with all Canadians.Having this initial understanding will help you to answer this question: What is the connection between governance and identity, citizenship, and quality of life?
To understand further how government and economic decisions are made, you will explore the organization of Canada's federal political system in Section 2. As well, you will develop an understanding of how the government deals with roadblocks or issues that provide challenges as well as opportunities for you and other Canadians.
