The image in Figure 1 is a statue of Lady Justice. Examine the image closely. Give particular attention to what the statue has over its eyes and what the statue has in its hands. These are symbols of justice.
As well, look on page 57 of your textbook, Issues for Canadians. You will notice that the statue of Lady Justice is holding a scroll instead of a sword. What do you think the scroll implies?
Discuss with a fellow student or a family member the possible meanings of these symbols. You may also choose to research online using the keywords "Lady Justice". Find two or more websites that explain the meaning of the symbols.
Record your findings and the online sites you visited in your notes, and then store your work in your Activities folder.
