Completion requirements
Unit 3: Section 2: Workbook 12: Canada's Immigration Policy
For this activity, examine the profiles of at least five immigrants who have chosen to immigrate to Canada. Choose them from the Passports Activity link below.
When selecting your profiles, be sure to choose immigrants from various countries and continents.
In your notes, determine to which category each of the five immigrants you chose belongs. Are they classified as economic immigrants, family class, refugees, or other? You may use page 167 of the textbook to assist you.

You will use the Passports Activity to assist you in one of the assignment questions.
Save your notes to your Activities folder.

In Workbook 11, Activity 1, you were introduced to the point system that is used to determine the eligibility of potential immigrants to Canada.
Internet Web SearchIf you would like, you may use the Internet to determine whether the decisions you made for the immigrants selected would qualify for immigration.
Using a search term in your web browser such as "eligibility to apply to immigrate to Canada" will take you to Canadian government websites where you can find eligibility tests/questionnaires.
For each immigrant you have chosen in the Passports Activity above, you may determine whether he or she is eligible to immigrate to Canada.

Do some research on the UN Refugee Agency. Open an Internet browser, and use the keyword "UNHCR".
Explore the website and look into how you can get involved.
