Section 2 Glossary
emigration:
the movement out of one's country of origin to settle in another
enumerate: to count one by one
immigration:
the movement of people into a country or a region where a new home is established
Often, immigrants will later acquire citizenship of their new country.
migration:
the movement of people from one region or country to another
policy: objective or procedure
In the case of government, a policy sets the procedures for the implementation of the law.
pull factors: reasons people immigrate to a certain region or country; these may include political, economic, health, or security factors
push factors: reasons people emigrate from a certain region or country; these may include political, economic, health, or security factors
