Inquiry into the Issue
What is life like for animals living in a zoo? Perhaps you have visited a zoo and observed how animals are cared for. Consider the difference between how animals survive in a zoo compared to how animals survive in the untamed wild. Animals in the untamed wild have to meet their basic needs without the help of zoo keepers. What about animals on a game reserve, game park, or national park? How are their lives the same or different than animals living in a zoo or animals living in the untamed wild?
What do animals have to do with economics?
In this inquiry activity, you will investigate where animals live, and later you will compare these environments to various economic systems. The animal environments are used as a metaphor for economic systems.
In this section, you will investigate this question:
How do the Canadian and the United States economic systems work?
