Get Focused
What are your biggest environmental concerns? In Activity 1, you made and ranked a list of important environmental issues.
Retrieve this list from your Activities folder and review it. Reflect on the reasons these issues are important to you.
- How are your concerns being addressed by the government of Canada and the Alberta provincial government?
- What are these governments doing to ensure that Canada maintains healthy environments for future generations?
Internet Web Search
Open an Internet web browser. Enter the key search term "government of Canada environmental initiatives".
Find a website that identifies some of the Canadian government's environmental initiatives.
In your notes, identify two initiatives of the federal government. How might these initiatives affect your quality of life?
Note: You are not required to research or explain the initiatives. The purpose of this activity is to increase your awareness of the federal government's involvement in addressing environmental issues.
Save your notes to your Activities folder.
Continue your Internet search by entering the key search term "environment Alberta". Using this search term, you should find the Environment website of the Alberta government.
On the government site, you will find links to various topics including air, land, water, and climate change.
In your notes, identify two initiatives of the provincial government. How might these initiatives affect your quality of life?
